Baby Tears!

Eric and I got Logan his first Easter present. We bought him the Velveteen Rabbit from Schullers. I am sure I spelled that wrong, but whatever. Eric and I both love to read. And we thought it would be a great book for him to add to his existing collection. So hopefully he will enjoy reading it some day. In the mean time, we will read it for him. And of course I have his first Easter Basket coming in the mail on Friday. It is a chick with Logans name on the butt. haha I got it from Williams Sonoma

So yesterday was a sad day for Logan. He had to get his RSV shot. And he did not like it one bit. Not that I expected him to, but this one was his worst. I think it was the way the stupid nurse held him. She pulled his legs over the edge of the table and held him down with her hips and had me hold his arms. While I was doing it, I was like what in the hell is going on here. Like he knows that we are about to stab him. She was a little weird. And boy did he cry loud/hard/long. I felt horrible when I saw his baby tears. But as usual he was able to pull himself together with little sobs.

Prior to the shot, we spoke with the doctor. Eric is still sick. And of course Logan woke up sounding all snotty and such. So we asked her to check him out. She said his lungs were clear...good. And she said that she detected a slight heart murmer, that we would just pay attention to over time. But that she thought it was normal/okay. And she said he was pretty congested. Ahhh my babies first cold. Eric felt horrible knowing it was coming from him. But what can you do, we all live together. Anyway, she said to take saline and put it up his nose. And then suck it out with that bulb thing. And that if we notice him breathing hard that she wants to see him. Otherwise we can expect it to only get better. He was a little warm to touch. And I didnt ask her to see if he had a fever, because I forgot.

So we went home and I took hs temp. It was 99.3 degrees. A little warm, but nothing too serious. So I gave him a bath to cool him down. And I put him in his jammies. I sucked his nose out with the magic bulb. And I fed him. And then I held him for a couple hours. He looked so comfortable. Then I check his temp and it was 97.8. So we were back in business. I brushed his hair for like 20 minutes. I think he loves it. haha He just relaxes big time.

At both of his night time feedings he wouldnt finish his bottles. He would fall asleep. So we knew he was still a little not well. We gave him Tylenol. And well in the morning he was still a little sluggish, but looking better. And he is a poop factory. Which is really unlike him. So we just cuddle with him until then.

Watch Out

So this weekend was not a super weekend. But it was not horrible. At least for Logan and I. Unfortunately Eric was super sick all weekend. In fact by Saturday I thought I would have to take him in to see a doc. He looked like he was about to pass out every time he walked from one room to another. And then all the while, Logan and I have to watch out and make sure we did not come in to contact with him. Unfortunately we had to miss Zoeys (Eric God daughter)2nd birthday party. We were super bummed, as we love Ian and Melissas families.

So I packed up Logan and him and I went to Haley McClungs 2nd birthday party. We had two that day, and well Haleys was a block away. So Eric stayed home for some much needed rest. And Logan attended his first birthday party. It was pretty short and sweet. But we went with Rick and Michelle and Cierra. Pretty much my whole family knows the McClungs because my sister watches Haley and Conor. Tons of little kids running around going crazy just as they should. And we ran in to Scott Kushners parents. And Mrs. Kushner took a picture of Logan so that she could show Scott. They all thought he was super tiny. There was a newborn (1 week)there, and he was bigger than Logan. And Logan is approaching 3 months. So I guess to them, he was tiny. To me, he is growing so fast, we cant keep up.

Saturday night, Eric was feeling a little more better, well enough to not feel like dying. We pretty much pumped him full of drugs. And so we had a mellow night at home. We watched tv, and took a nap before dinner. And Logan gave us the greatest night ever. He would sleep, then wake up smiling. Then sleep and wake up smiling. At every feeding was the same happy baby. So it was super cute. And we all felt well rested in the morning.

Sunday Eric woke up still a little crappy feeling, but wanted to get out to get some fresh air. So me Logan, Eric, and mom and dad went and got some breakfast. Then straight back home for Eric. He needed his rest. But Logan and I took off. My cousins needed to go dress shopping for prom. Erics brother was back from Mexico and had wanted to see Logan. But Eric told him he wasnt home and what not. So Eric called me to tell me. So instead of leaving him with my mom, I called Marc to see if him and Sarah wanted to watch him while we shopped. And of course they did. So we dropped off Logan at Sarahs. He had his little Spartan socks on. And he watch the MSU basketball game with Uncle Marc and Aunt Sarah.

Dress shopping was pretty fun. I remember those days. And both girls (Shelby and Cassandra) were able to find dresses tehy loved. So that was sweet. And when I picked Logan back up, I was informed that he pooped 2 times for them. This is a record for the little man. He usually poops 1 time every 3 or 4 days. However, now that we have switched him to his new formula (Enfamil, Gentle ease), maybe that is the difference. And I am no longer feeding him breast milk. I dont have the time, energy, or supply. haha I am so over it. I did it for almost 3 months. Which is 3 months longer than I had planned, so I am not going to feel guilty about it. However, when I woke up Sunday morning my boobs were as hard as a rock. AWESOME! haha You needed to know that I am sure. In any case, Marc and Sarah enjoyed their time with Logan. And they think he is super cute.

Mellow night for sure. Here is the latest.

Changed the formula, seems to be handling it well
Is growing out of his "newborn" size diapers...or so I think
Is growing out of more outfits, had to reorganize his clothes and put away the small ones
smiles all the time
His bald spot on his head from the monitors has moved to the side of his head vs the top. Which tells us his head is getting bigger. BIG BRAINS
Is starting to make coos and noises, which is super cute.
Is growing out of his sleep sack, and I think it is time to break him of being swaddled. We cant swaddle him forever....or can we?
Formula for him is $15.00 for the small, and $25.00 for the big container
Gas is about $2.75-2.85/gallon
Movie is about $7-8
Diapers are $9.00 for a small pack, and about $20.00 for a box Pampers swaddlers
Random I know. But I want Logan to know what things ran during this time in his life. It will be interesting to know what this looks like a year from now.

Today he has a RSV (Synergyst)shot. He will scream and then I will pick him up and he will be over it. Or so thats how it has been. Lets hope so.
Poor baby!

My 2 boys...

Well Eric has come down with the first cold between the 3 of us. So I have been relying heavily on my family for support with Logan. And mostly that support has been my sister. Especially at night....Gracias!

And Logan has been going through a super growth spurt, and it upsets him. He just busts out screaming out of nowhere...and then nothing. Then he smiles away like it was all in our minds. So I am trying not to get him too excited. And I am trying to keep him away from Eric. I just am not ready to deal with a sick baby. So lets all hope he is just fine. So far, so good!

Not much else to report. Sounds like it is going to be super lamo weekend with trying to get my 2 boys in check. Wish me luck!

Easter Bunny

Well lets see....The last few days have been a blur.

We went to the hospital to visit our Aunt Frances. She is recovering from a case of pancreatitis. However, she is doing well. And now just needs a little rest.

My sister has been staying at our place the last few nights, and helping Eric and I with Logan. That is something we are so so thankful for.

Oh and speaking of being thankful...You know my tire fiascal the other day, well Eric experienced something quite similar. And yet again his Dad came to our rescue and suited up Erics truck with 4 brand spanking new tires. That same day Eric got a parking ticket on campus. AWESOME! Yeah and he was only 3 minutes past the time. Very nice...Go Green!

In any case, we had a day planned. Logan had his 2 month checkup. Of course it was past his 2month birthday, but who's counting? So they told me the following:

We can now use Enfamil-Gentilease formula. This is huge for us, because he is such a gassy baby. And this formula helps eliminate gas.

He got 3 shots and 1 oral vaccination. Or course the oral one was just fine. But he cried quite hard for the 3 shots. However, it was short lived.

We are told that we can feed him anywhere from 3-6oz, depending what he wants. And we are to let him "tell" us. So up we go. And FYI...all last night, he fell asleep before the end of each feeding. Which is rare for him. We have not seen him do that since his early days in the RNICU. So we are doing good

He now weighs 9pounds 13oz...so close to being a 10pound turkey. And he is now 22 3/4"long. He is like in teh 89% for his height. Thats great.

She said he is growing so good that she might take him off the iron supplement, but they have to confirm/deny this with Dr. Josh.

And that about covers it.

The highlight of the night was taking him to see the Easter Bunny at the Meridian Mall. We got there and literally nobody was in line. It was me, Eric, Logan, Stefanie, Julian, my Mom, my Dad, Michelle and Phil. Julian is terrified of Santa, so we thought this was going to turn out ugly. Nope, he just loved him so much. It was the cutest thing ever. However, when we put Logan in his lap and Julian, things got weird. Julian was not sure he wanted to be there. But he wasnt afraid. He just didnt want to sit still. And Logan was wide awake. However, by the time we finally got a good picture, Logan nodde off. We dont care, it is funny. So Logan got his first Easter Bunny pic taken. And I thought it was just cute. Then we met my mother in law at Olive Garden and had a late night dinner.

Stef and Michelle and Logan and I ran to Target. I had to pick up Logans Swimsuit. He has lessons coming up. hahah

We survived

Well we survived our first overnight away. We went to Grand Rapids. And of course we packed like we were moving in. The baby did just fine. In fact he slept...Like a baby. haha We did a little shopping. And then back home we went.

When we got home on Sunday I decided to move every piece of furniture that we own. Not sure I like it, but oh well.

So Sunday night, Logan starting some serious crying/screaming. And pretty much kept us up the whole night. By morning I felt horrible for him. And I was not sure what was wrong. So I called Dr. Josh. He told me to bring him in right away. So I called Erics mom and asked her to cancel a day of work to possibly watch Logan. That was a difficult decision for her I am sure. haha So our house was a little panicked to say the least. Eric was stressed from no sleep. And then on top of that it was his day to add classes to his schedule at school. Which if you do not know, is a huge deal. You snooze you loose policy. Well we survived that morning also...of course. But it sure was crazy hectic. So I picked up Erics mom, and off we went to Logans apt. Well on the way there we got a flat tire. A total blow out. Why not right? So we called Terry, and he came to our rescue. And he hooked us up with 2 new tires. THANK GOD. I have been without a paycheck for months. So money is tight right about now. In any case we made out way to the doc.

Logan weighs 9pounds 10oz. Wowza huh? And wouldnt you know it, he was just fine when we got there. I was like "are you kidding me right now". But the doc concluded that he is being underfed. I was keeping him on a little amount because of his acid reflux and all that. But apparently he should be eating 3-4oz. So up we go. So Logan spent the rest of the day with his grandparents.

My sister so awesomely decided to stay the night and take care of Logan so Eric and I could get some much needed rest. So we gave him a bath, and put him down for bed. This was after many smiles and kisses from my little man. He is so damn cute. And we all were well rested in the AM.

We dropped him off this morning. And Sharon was excited to see him.

Side note: he moves his head freely from side to side, and his daddy loves it.

1st Overnight

So tomorrow will be Logans first overnight trip. We are going to Grand Rapids to stay the night at my cousin Dannys house. Dad is suffering from cabin fever. So he asked Eric and I to go with them. So we have a lot of packing to do for tomorrow. I am pretty sure it will look like we are moving in. I just dont want to be stuck needing something. My baby has to have everything. haha So wish us luck.

So yesterday Eric and I picked up Logan from Sharons. And we got him ready to go for a walk. I thought it would be nice for Logan to take a walk with Dad. So we walked over to my Grandmas. And then made our way to my parents house. My Mom and Michelle decided to go walking with us. So oddly enough we walked by the cemetary in Ovid. And mom suggested we go see cousin Lauries tombstone that just came in. Well it didnt, but we went out there anyway. No this isnt weird. haha I said okay this is Logans first time in a cemetary. Then we made our way over to Great Grandma and Grandpas site. So weird I know. Then back home we went.

We got Phil and Dad and went out to dinner. When we got there Logan was good for the first half of dinner, and then he decided to blow out his diaper. This made him really upset. So then Eric and I took him out to the van to change his diaper. We noticed that when I emptied his diaper bag that I forgot to put the wipes container back in. Fortunately we had a zip lock baggie with 2 wipes in it. OMG...he poohed all over his diaper. And I successfully cleaned him up with 2 wipes and one diaper. And thank God for the zip lock bag. We were able to store that nasty diaper in there. Eric still can not stomach a poopy diaper. What a wimp. In any case, it was decided that bath night would happen that night instead of the next. I wasnt sure how clean I got the poor kid in the back seat at night. He was then a happy little camper.

I do believe his digestive system is maturing as it should be. In the past 4 days he went pooh 3 times. That is a world record for this kid. So we are pretty happy. Hope he keeps it up. His poor tummy doesnt like the other way. Now to get Eric use to the crap. I should just smear him with it and just help him get over his fears. haha

I know, that was gross.

We set up a tentative date next month to get his 3 month pictures taken with Christy again. The plan is every 3 months. This is pretty cool, as we were more than pleased with the first ones. I have no idea what this one will be like. He will actually be wearing clothes. So any suggestions would be great!

He was particularly more cute this morning than yesterday. And I had to dance with him for breakfast. hhaa a million kisses all around.

0-3 Months

Okay so I woke this morning to my smiling little "squeaks". He was so cute and cuddly. So as I was getting him ready for daycare, I was sad. You see slowly but surely my little sweet baby is growing. In fact I should say, fast...not slow. And I noticed as I got him ready yesterday, that he is starting to be too long for his "newborn" sized clothes. And so with a heavy heart I pulled out his 0-3 month size clothes this morning. And wouldnt you know it, he fits in them. I just about cried. He is getting so big. And as I have said time and again, I want him to stay a baby forever. So I had Eric take a picture of him in his first 0-3 month outfit this morning. And he was just smiling so big for Eric and I. It was so cute.

Back it up now... So yesterday was a beautiful day. And Michelle called and asked if I was going to take Logan for a walk. I thought what a great idea. So I called Eric to make sure he was okay with me doing that without him. And he said he was. So I got out of work at 1pm. I went to Sharons to get Logan. When I got there I was greeted at the door by Seth. Seth is another kid Sharon watches. He is usually at school, but they had a day off yesterday. He came and introduced himself to me and told me he was six years old and that "Logan is so cute". I asked him if he thought they were going to be buddies. And he said "I think we are going to be great friends". I thought it was the cutest thing ever. Sharon said that when Logan whimpers, Seth will go up to him and pet him and real quietly say "Its okay Logan Seths here". Is that not crazy cute? So he is going to be a little helper for sure. Logan all the while was just all happy in his crib in the corner. He likes the mobile there, I could tell. She told me he had pooped for her two days in a row. I said he must really like her, cause he doesnt do that for me anymore. haha She then said that on Tuesday they had gone for their first walk. She put Logan in a baby Bjorn. And he seemed to do just fine. Of course he would, he loves to be held tight or swaddled. Sharon bought Logan a St. Patricks Day bib and got him a card. How fun. I am glad we chose her to watch Logan. I think the older he gets, he is going to really like it. And she just loves all over him. Which is just the way I want him cared for.

So Me, Michelle, Julie and Logan went for a little walk. I took a picture. And I will have to post it later. Sharon had said he was awake all day long. And wouldnt you know it, he fell asleep the minute we left the driveway. Thats okay though. We needed to get some fresh air. We then had a cookout at mom and dads. And then home to bed we went. He slept so good just as she predicted. In fact, I made him get up to feed him.

And as we drive away from Sharons this morning. Eric said he feels odd. And we concluded that its like we drop off an iPod for her to borrow. Its just so weird....Here is our baby, see you at 5. hahah

Well...off to work.

Keep it Going.....

So I have had a lot of people ask me if I am going to keep up my blog. I wasnt going to, but I think Logan will like to see his progress. Also, I am going to change our title of the blog... And of course as you all know Logan is here....over 2 months here. haha

I will write the story of his birth when I have the energy. Who knows when that will be, but I will. I would like to get it down while it is still somewhat fresh in my mind. Yes, my mind...the one that I feel has turned to mush since having a baby. Yikes I dont remember anything. And it is never more apparent than when I am singing a song to Logan, and I draw a blank on the words. I know the words to every song in America. I mean people know my one talent that I have in relation to words in music. Its gone.

So yesterday was Logans first day at daycare. His daycare lady is named Sharon. She is so super sweet. She lives several blocks from our house. So it is going to be real easy to get him ready in the mornings and get him to her house. So yeterday Eric got up with us, so that he could go with us over to house for the first drop off. We got his bags packed, I took a picture and out the door we went. This is how he looked before we left the house

Isnt he the cutest thing ever?!?!?!?!? He had a coat on because Sharon asked us to bring him with a coat and a hat so that they could take a walk if it was nice out. This kind of made Eric and I sad because we wanted to be the first to take him for a walk. But we couldnt help but let her take him. She has other kids that she watches as well. And I didnt want to deprive them of a great day. However, when I picked him up, she said they didnt go. She said that it was a little too windy to risk it. So I was super happy about that.

Sharon said he was perfect and that she just loved him. I called I think 3 times during the day. Which if you ask me is about 10 times less than I wanted to. Things are really busy at work, so it makes the day go by fast. So for that I am greatful. And we trust Sharon so much, its easy not to worry.

She did learn that Logan LOVES to be swaddled. And she learned that this is the only way he will nap on his own. He really liked her play mat that she laid him on. So we are going to get him one this weekend. And of course he was good in the swing. So that is the exciting day and times at daycare. haha Oh and she experienced his big o'l blowout poop. hahah She had to see it some time. May as well be the first day.

At this stage of the game, he smiles in response to being tickled or played with. He still makes his monkey face where he puckers up tight. He holds his head up really well....but he has been for a while now. He tries to roll over all the time. When he takes a bath, he sometimes lays with one foot over the tub...its the cutest thing ever. And he is only content in there if we lay a wet washcloth over his crotch and belly. Then he is super happy. And I think he likes it when I brush his hair. Oh and his breath is amazing. I love to smell it. hahaha

Eric and I measured him last night, it looks like 22 inches. We could be wrong...but I doubt it.

Well I believe that is all I have to contribute. Oh and one of his perfect little pictures we had taken of him at 5 weeks. Enjoy!
