So yesterday I had my apt with Dr. Roth, or as my friend Kim thinks...Dr. Feelgood. She thinks he is a hottie. And basically all throughout her pregnancy he was her craving. It made me laugh a little at my apt. Anyway.....

So we sat with Dr. Roth in a consultation room. This upset me at first because as I said in the previous post, I had hoped to "see" the baby on an ultrasound. However, as luck would have it, he had other things on his mind. He went over my ultra sound that made me question if I were having a miscarriage. This was one I went to the ER for on August 25th. It looked as if the sac was tappering off and the baby was heading out. Well he said when there is any blood touching the uterus it contracts. And since I was seriously bleeding at that point, that is what we saw. He said the reason he was not concerned or came to the conclusion that I was having a miscarriage was because my cervix looked healthy. It was closed, and long (3cm). So he said that was a positive. However they can never say "oh you will not miscarry all is good". And I know that. I basically told him that I had done some research on patients with Lupus that were pregnant. And that I had found several different methods of treatment to aid in successful pregnancy.

Okay without getting all scientific on you I am going to try to keep this short. There is something called Lupus Anti coagulant that happens in a 35% population of lupus patients. basically what happens is you would get pregnant, then you develop this clotting or anti clotting I dont know. But it shuts off supply to the placenta causing miscarriage. So then the treatment would be Heparin(blood thinner) and a baby aspirin. Well I am currently taking the baby asprin. And I noticed that what I read was that Lupus patients that have had several miscarriages can be treated as if they were anti-coag. And well blood work has tested me as negative. So I said what do you think. He said I would only treat you if you as ant-coag if you lost 2 or more babies after your 10th week. So I do not fit in that category as my losses have been very early on. So in short...hahaha, we are going to stick with what I have been taking. No bed rest is neccessary. However he said be logical and dont overdo it. He said we just wait and hope it all works out.

Eric asked 100 questions. Which were all very important. I asked an equal amount of questions. And what we decided was that I would get this blood test done. This is something that they dont have a lot of research on but it can be a baseline. And basically this test read in conjunction with the NT Scan(ultrasound to check physicaly for Downs syndrom and several other chromosome related issues) can tell him if the bleeding I had, did any damage to my placenta. It will give me an idea of if my placenta will be sufficient to carry a baby, or if it will not. It is not accurate. It is just a baseline. And I told him, the way my mind works is I need information. I need to know where I am headed. And good or bad, it will give me something to focus on. So of course we pray for good. So I get this test done on the 13th of August.

He was pretty cool. We laughed most of the apt, and I have not been able to do that in a while. So that felt good. We left feeling okay for once. Then I got to the receptionist. And I heard this woman essentially screaming and crying. Eric tried to block her from my vision as he was standing in the doorway. She was super pregnant. And I said to the lady, "did her baby die"? And she said yes. I then asked "how far along is she"? And she said 36 weeks. And I cried like a baby because I felt so horrible for her. I could barely make my apt I was so upset. Its a mix of my hormones and the real fact that I was horrified for that lady and her family. By the time we left she was out in the hallway on the floor sobbing. And her family just didnt know what to say. I just thought wow, she only has 4 weeks left. Eric was sad too. It was hard to see. And I told him in this really really messed up sort of way, it made me feel better. Because I knew that if GOD FORBID I lose this baby, that it could be so much worst. I could be her.

So anyway....how do I change in to happiness from there....So I went to my parents house after work. And of course we did our "what are we having for dinner" dance. We decided on goulash. Not just goulash, but as I like to call it, white people goulash. ahhaha Dont ask. But my mom made the best most amazing goulash ever. YUMMO!!!! And goofy Eric and Michelle ate Brats. What dorks. Someone said, "oh now that Estrellas pregnant she gets anything she wants". To which my sister said, "um Estrella got everything she wanted when she wasnt pregnant". And I say "is that so wrong?"

  2. As all of our family knows, prayer is a powerful thing and with the zillion of family & friends praying, he will do what is best for you three. Just keep taking one day at a time like you are and try not to over analyze how you feel or don't feel, the doctors will take good care of you as well. I'm glad you told me about this blog so I can keep updated.
    Love you lots
