So today was the day we got our NT scan done. I was to drink 24oz of water and hold it for an hour. It doesnt sound like much. But let me just tell you, I threatend to pee myself on many occasions. Well Mary the Ultra Sound tech let me pee a little. YEAH RIGHT. Have you ever tried to stop? I looked like I was playing twister on the toilet.
So anyway, we saw a little baby. He/she is getting so big. The head doesnt look so rediculous anymore. And he has fingers and thighs and all those little pieces that matter. And while we were in there Billie Joels song "She's got a way" was playing. You might say, why does this matter. And I would say, it doesnt. It just makes Eric and I laugh because Eric is totally obsessed with him. And it just was a nice soundtrack to our baby's photo shoot. haha Anyway, while we were watching the baby, he totally would not sit still. He was twirling around and kicking away. It was the cutest thing ever. And at one point he had his fingers all spread out and it looked like he was waving at us. So super cute. The heart rate was 173bpm. And if I go by old wivestales then that means we are having a girl. But if I go on pure science that means I have to wait about 6-8 more weeks. I think I will stick with science. Its what I like best.
So then we saw the doc. Dr. Kelley that is. She said the NT scan shows very promising results that Downs Syndrom can go on my least things to worry about list. And she can never say 100% because it is just a screening, not an actual results test. But that was good. And she said to Eric after prodding from his end, that yes, I can finally relax and try to enjoy my pregnancy. She sees no cause for alarm. The bleeding has seemed to have stopped. She did not spot any clots in my ultra sound. And the baby looks super good. He is even measuring a little ahead. But she will not change my due date yet. Which she tells me it really doesnt matter. I believe a very small percentage (like maybe 5%) of women actually deliver on their due date. So cest la vie.
For the first time EVER I left there not feeling like my life was over. It felt good to actually get some good news. We scheduled future apts. Which we talked about the fact that YES we want to know what we are having. We waited this long to have a baby, it is only fair that we get to start shopping for it. haha
I have yet to get the actual results of the blood work back from Dr. Roths office yet about the placenta. His nurse told me that they had to send the scan results over to California and then they come up with a result. I will get a phone call when they have it figured out. But according to the scan, it looks pretty good. So we just wait as always. But for now, we feel much better.
good news always comes to those who wait. I so glad that you can now relax a little but still don't overdue, get all the rest you can now, you'll need it for later. I'm glad you are going to find out what you are having so then you won't have to try and return things cuz they are for the wrong sex.
